SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A suspected human trafficker was taken into custody Thursday afternoon after leading police on a brief chase that ended in a crash and temporary shutdown of the eastbound 105 Freeway in South Los Angeles.

AIR7 was over the scene on the eastbound 105 near the 110 Freeway around 4:20 p.m., where the suspect’s vehicle had crashed and overturned onto its side against a freeway barrier. Several police vehicles surrounded the overturned car.
Video from AIR7 showed traffic backed up for miles amid the afternoon rush hour.
Following the crash, a brief standoff ensued before officers flipped the vehicle back onto its wheels and took the suspect into custody.

The eastbound lanes of the 105 Freeway were shut down during the standoff with Los Angeles police officers. Two lanes later reopened after the suspect was arrested and all eastbound lanes reopened shortly before 5:45 p.m.
Police said the pursuit lasted about 30 seconds. Police have not released details about what prompted the chase.
