VERNON, Calif. (KABC) — A three-alarm fire erupted at a sprawling commercial building in Vernon, prompting a response from 150 firefighters who battled the blaze for more than 90 minutes before getting it under control.

The fire began shortly before 3:30 p.m. at a structure in the 4600 block of Hampton Street, just southeast of the intersection of Pacific Boulevard and Santa Fe Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Flames shot through the roof of the single-story building amid heavy smoke as firefighters arrived at the scene.
Firefighters on aerial ladders and on the ground attacked the flames with water from firehoses. The scene was about 4 miles southwest of the Lineage warehouse in Boyle Heights, were a catastrophic fire broke out on June 17.

No injuries were reported, and the Fire Department was able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. One worker who was inside the building was able to get out safely, said Firefighter Specialist Pauline McGee, a spokesperson for the department.
The firefight was ongoing as of 4 p.m., according to officials. About 90 minutes later, McGee said firefighters “pretty much have it under control, they just want to make sure it’s extinguished.”
