WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (KABC) — The son of former NFL player and Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson has filed a lawsuit against Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, alleging he was subjected to repeated racial harassment, bullying and physical assaults while a student there.

According to the lawsuit, the allegations stem from the boy’s experience as a sixth grader at the school two years ago. Eric Dickerson, who was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in 1983, is not named as a plaintiff in the case.

The lawsuit alleges the student was repeatedly subjected to racial slurs, bullying and physical assault, and that school officials failed to take meaningful action despite being aware of the alleged harassment. The complaint claims students repeatedly directed the N-word at Dickerson’s son and makes reference to a primary harasser.

The lawsuit further alleges that, rather than investigating the allegations, the student’s teacher accused him of lying in front of his peers.

Attorneys representing the student contend the allegations are part of a broader pattern of racial abuse at the school.

“This is ugly bullying of the worst kind. It’s racial. It’s racially motivated. They used his last name and turned that into a racial slur. And it’s just the last thing as a parent you want to hear from your kid when they come home from school,” attorney Robert Glassman said.

The student later withdrew from Oaks Christian and is now enrolled at a different school.

In a statement provided to ABC7, Oaks Christian said: “The school disputes the allegations regarding its conduct and will respond through the legal process.”
