MACARTHUR PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A police SWAT team on Wednesday morning was involved in an ongoing standoff with a person who barricaded themself in a MacArthur Park restroom after he possibly simulated having a firearm, authorities said.

The standoff began about 9:20 a.m. at the sprawling park near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.
The gunshots were fired during the incident and no injuries were reported, the spokesperson said.

Authorities were not aware of anyone else being inside the restroom with the suspect, according to the LAPD.
Officers initially responded to the barricade situation, and they were joined by the SWAT team shortly after 11 a.m.
