MACARTHUR PARK, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon following a standoff with police at MacArthur Park, authorities said.

The standoff began about 9:20 a.m. at the sprawling park near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.

The suspect, who has not been identified, barricaded themself inside a restroom.
No gunshots were fired during the incident, and no injuries were reported, the spokesperson said. Authorities were not aware of anyone else being inside the restroom with the suspect, according to the LAPD.

The park remained open during the standoff.
