Several shipping containers fall off cargo ship, plunge into water at Port of Los Angeles

PORT OF LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Several shipping containers on Monday morning fell off of a cargo ship and into the water at the Port of Los Angeles, officials said.

The incident occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. near Berth 302, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

No injuries were reported.

Video from AIR7 showed at least one container bobbing in the water near the massive cargo ship. The number of fallen containers that sank below the water’s surface was unclear.

The cause of the incident was not immediately known.
