HACIENDA HEIGHTS, Calif. (KABC) — Deputies are investigating a burglary at a $4 million mansion inside a gated community in Hacienda Heights, where a security guard reportedly fired gunshots, trying to scare the suspects off.

Eyewitness News spotted what appeared to be a trail of evidence leading up to the home on Skyline Drive. Several articles of clothing, designer belts and a pink purse were seen scattered on the ground.
Two armed security guards were at the home when the armed burglary happened around 9:20 p.m. on Monday. The residents were reportedly not home at the time.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the two guards spotted several suspects inside the home, and one of those guards fired warning shots to scare them off.
The gunshots alerted neighbors, and the guard was later detained for firing his weapon.
The guards saw some of the suspects run off but were concerned that some burglars were still inside. However, a K-9 unit later cleared the home, and no one else was found, deputies said.

Investigators said video from a neighbor shows several suspects getting away in a sedan.
Several items were recovered outside of the home, believed to have been dropped as the suspects ran away.
Investigators believe that more items may have been taken. The investigation into how much was taken and what exactly those items were is ongoing.
For now, no suspects have been taken into custody, and investigators did not have a description of the alleged burglars.
