The latest Berkeley IGS/ L.A. Times Poll shows Raman with her strongest showing yet, leading Mayor Bass 39% to 28% among 2,100 likely voters.
But the race remains wide open, with one-third of voters still undecided.
The director of the poll says a large number of the undecided voter base is made up of Spencer Pratt voters from the primary.
Over 217,000 people voted for Pratt in the primary.
Raman trailed Bass in all previous polls during the primary, and she finished second in that race.
But it’s been a long summer for Bass – with homelessness going up, according to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority’s count, and the Lineage fire in Boyle Heights.
Plus, Raman’s attacks on the last four years of Bass’ policies have boosted the councilwoman.

L.A. hasn’t had a one-term mayor since 2005, when Antonio Villaraigosa beat James Hahn.
“I’ve seen a lot of polls, and one thing that we knew about all of the polls that we have seen is that this is going to be a tight race,” Bass said. “And a poll is a snapshot in a period of time.”
“We are taking nothing, not a single vote, for granted. So to every Angeleno who is still deciding, my ask is simple: Take a look at our campaign, and give me the opportunity to earn your vote. Read our plans. Come and meet me at an event. You may find that we have more in common than you expect,” Raman said.
The poll has even more bad news for Bass. It showed that her unfavorability is at 63% and only 28% viewed Bass as favorable. For Raman, 40% have a favorable view of her and 39% do not.
In response to the poll, Raman said she believes that her message that L.A. is on the wrong track and not serving everyone is resonating with voters.
