Man fatally shot in the head is found by person walking dog in Van Nuys; shooter at large

VAN NUYS, Calif. (KABC) — A man suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the head was found by a person who was walking a dog overnight in Van Nuys, authorities said.

Officers responded about 2:10 a.m. to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area of Murrieta and Hazeltine avenues, east of Van Nuys Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was found bleeding after being shot in the head and was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics. His identity was not immediately released.
