HAWTHORNE, Calif. (KABC) — A grieving family is speaking out after a 38-year-old mother of two was killed in a wrong-way crash on the 405 Freeway in Hawthorne.

“Every time I look at my family, I’m just scared to lose somebody else,” said Quiyona Bridges, the sister of Myeisha Darlene Pierson.
Myeisha’s life ended on 405 Freeway when a wrong-way driver, who police say was under the influence, collided with her car early in the morning on July 21.
“The person that she is and the person that she was going to become – that was taken from me. It was taken from all of us,” said her mother, Geneva Lawton.
Myeisha spent her final days helping her best friend prepare for a family member’s funeral. From there, she drove her brother Dashawn Henderson home from his first day at his new job.
“She was sitting, waiting next to the security booth to pick me up from work,” he said.

Myisha, who leaves behind a 13-year-old and 5-year-old, never made it home.
Dashawn, who was sitting in the passenger seat at the time of the crash, is still recovering from a fractured hip, ruptured spleen and burns throughout his body.
Now, the family not only wants justice for their loved one, but also for the families robbed of their loved ones due to drunk and impaired driving.

“I want laws to be changed. I want something to reflect and represent her in the future,” said her aunt, Gevona Lawton.
Meanwhile, the family has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for funeral expenses and hospital expenses for both siblings.
