BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A driver was killed when their car flew off the 5 Freeway in Boyle Heights and got Wedged under an overpass early Thursday morning.

A white Kia sedan drove off the freeway and landed in an embankment around 2:15 a.m. Thursday on the transition road from the northbound 5 Freeway to the eastbound 10 Freeway.
The California Highway Patrol closed the transition road and issued a SigAlert that remains in effect until later this morning.
Video from the scene shows the badly mangled car and firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department working to clear the vehicle from the embankment.

The CHP says crews will be on scene for a while.
Details on the cause of the crash and the identity of the victim were not immediately available.
Meanwhile, in Arcadia lanes reopened on the 210 Freeway shortly after 4:30 a.m. following a deadly crash. Just before 1 a.m., a pedestrian was hit and killed on the eastbound lanes near 5th Avenue. It’s unclear why that pedestrian was on the freeway. The driver was not hurt.
