Evacuation order lifted after brush fire threatens homes in Stevenson Ranch

STEVENSON RANCH, Calif. (KABC) — A brush fire in Stevenson Ranch threatened homes and temporarily prompted an evacuation order late Monday afternoon.

The blaze, dubbed the Max Fire, was reported at about 4:20 p.m. in the area of Magnolia Lane and Autumn Place, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The LAFD also assisted in battling the blaze.

Amid hot temperatures, the blaze quickly grew from a quarter acre in size to more than 30 acres.

Crews stopped forward progress of the fire at 45 acres just before 6:30 p.m., according to the L.A. County Fire Department.

An evacuation order was issued for the STV-PICO zone, but it was lifted around 7 p.m. Other warnings have also been lifted, according to Cal Fire.

“Residents may return home while continuing to use caution in the area as fire crews remain on scene,” the city of Santa Clarita said in an Instagram post.

Firefighters battled the blaze from the air and ground.
