Several lanes of northbound 5 Freeway shut down after deadly car crash in Pacoima area

PACOIMA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — At least one person was killed in a crash on the northbound 5 Freeway in the Pacoima area early Sunday morning leading to several lanes being shut down.

The 2-vehicle crash was reported just after 3:30 a.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway at Terra Bella Street. The incident involved a white Honda sedan, according to the California Highway Patrol traffic log.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced one person dead.

The CHP issued a SigAlert, closing all northbound lanes, except for the carpool/HOV lane, during the investigation.

It was not immediately known when the freeway would fully reopen. Drivers can expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes if they can avoid the area.
