PALMDALE, Calif. (KABC) — A brush fire burning near Palmdale in the Antelope Valley on Saturday triggered evacuation orders and warnings for residents living in the area.

According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the fire was first reproted in the hilly community near the 14 Freeway and Pearlblossom Highway, south of Palmdale, around 2:11 p.m.

By about 4:45 p.m., the Lemon Fire grew to 190 acres with 22% containment, according to the fire department. In an update shortly after 7 p.m., officials said the fire had grown to 300 acres.

An evacuation shelter has been set up at the Antelope Valley Family YMCA, located at 43001 10th St. W in Lancaster.
