STANTON, Calif. (KABC) — Two women are dead after they were hit by a driver in the Stanton area of Orange County.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. Monday on Cerritos Avenue near Magnolia Avenue, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Screeching tires and a car horn could be heard on surveillance video from a nearby home but details about what led up to the collision were not available.

Deputies who responded found two injured pedestrians, a woman in her 30s and another woman in her 60s, at the scene. They were both taken to the hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

The driver involved in the deadly crash stayed on scene and was said to be cooperating with authorities. They have not been arrested.
