MID-WILSHIRE, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Police are looking for several prowlers in the Mid-Wilshire area. Security video shows two people in dark clothing lurking in the backyard of a home.

Police say they were trying to burglarize a home or canvass the area for a future burglary.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Friday in the neighborhood off Mullen Avenue near Wilshire Boulevard.

The homeowner says he was at home with his children when he spotted the suspicious individuals seen in the video.

He yelled at them, but they didn’t run away at first.

“Very frightening situation, especially when you have children,” said homeowner Peje Kharrazi. “Even before it was… they would come when they knew you weren’t home. And now, they don’t even care if you’re home or not home.”

Police say they found no evidence of a break-in or forced entry.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has promised more police patrols after a series of break-ins.

Just this week, she said there’s been a 30% decrease in burglaries and more than 100 arrests in the last 30 days.
