1 dead, another injured after argument ends in shooting at pizza restaurant in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, LOS ANGELES (CNS) — A man was shot to death and another wounded during a shooting that started with a fight between two women at a pizza restaurant in Wilmington.

The shooting occurred at 5:51 p.m. Saturday at Red West Pizza, at 614 W. Pacific Coast Highway, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.

A 26-year-old man was trying to break up a fight between two women when he and another man were shot by a male suspect, who fled the scene on foot, the spokesman said.

The 26-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the LAPD spokesman said. Paramedics took the wounded man in his early to mid-20s to a hospital, where he had stable vital signs.

The events that prompted the violence were not immediately clear.

The LAPD put out an advisory about an hour after the shooting telling people to avoid the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Bay View Avenue where an investigation was underway.
