KOREATOWN, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Hundreds of people in Koreatown can now safely use their tap water again after authorities lifted the Boil Water Notice, issued due to E. coli contamination.

The advisory was put in place Wednesday, after a routine test turned up E. coli samples in the water supply.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power issued the notice for a two-block area covering South Ardmore Avenue to the west, South Mariposa Avenue to the east, West Fifth Street to the north and West Sixth Street to the south.
Approximately 460 people were told to boil water or use bottled water for drinking, washing dishes, brushing teeth.
“It’s been like pretty bad and you can’t even use my sink to wash the dishes,” Koreatown resident John Kang told Eyewitness News earlier in the day. “Like brushing my teeth I have to use the bottled water instead of my sink water and like washing my face. I have to blow my nose out every time so it doesn’t get in my system.”

“I’m still taking showers you know. Hopefully I don’t get sick. I have to take showers, but I try not to get the water in my eyes and it’s kind of hard, but I can’t leave without taking showers,” said Carlos Hernandez, another Koreatown resident.
AIR7 was over the area where drinking water had been delivered.
“My dad actually picked up two yesterday and it’s actually helped us helped us a lot,” Kang said.
There were also dozens of LADWP employees working on site.
The LADWP said Thursday afternoon that the tap water was once again safe to use, cancelling the Boil Water Notice “following rigorous testing and reporting of water quality results to the California Division of Drinking Water.”
