16-year-old boy from Las Vegas arrested in deadly shooting near Santa Monica Pier

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) — A 16-year-old boy from Las Vegas has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting near the Santa Monica Pier, police announced Thursday.

The teenager turned himself in to detectives Tuesday evening after he was identified as a suspect during the investigation, according to Santa Monica police.

Officers responded at about 12:30 a.m. Monday to Parking Lot 1 North, 1550 Pacific Coast Highway, following a report of a possible shooting. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that a physical altercation occurred between two groups prior to the shooting,” police said in a statement.

Police are not releasing the suspect’s name because he is a minor.

An investigation is ongoing.
