LOS ANGELES (KABC) — <\/span>The 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted in cities across the United States, Mexico and Canada, is set to begin Thursday, kicking off a supersized tournament after years of preparation.<\/p>\n

The U.S. will host 78 matches, with eight games taking place at Inglewood’s Sofi Stadium (renamed Los Angeles Stadium by FIFA for the duration of the tournament).<\/p>\n

Mexico will open the World Cup on Thursday against South Africa in Mexico City. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. The action will continue in Zapopan, Mexico where South Korea will face Czechia at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n

Team USA has their opening match at 6 p.m. Friday against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium.<\/p>\n

2026 FIFA World Cup Watch Parties<\/h2>\n

The United States Countdown Concert at Crypto.com Arena will be at 6 p.m. on June 10. The Los Angeles stage will have live performances as well as broadcasts from Toronto and Mexico City. More details here.<\/p>\n

FIFA will activate several other Fan Zones throughout the tournament across the region.<\/p>\n

Where to shop for official World Cup 2026 merch<\/h2>\n

Fans can now get official FIFA World Cup merchandise at pop-up stores across the Los Angeles area.<\/p>\n

These pop-up stores are located in Santa Monica, Hollywood, Manhattan Beach and Torrance. There will also be two different locations in cowntown L.A.<\/p>\n

Soccer fans will have the opportunity to buy their official jerseys, t-shirts, hats and more. All six pop-up stores are expected to remain open through July 31.<\/p>\n
