See live election results below<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou get some eggs, I got my eggs,\u201d Tom Kaiser said, as we visited with him outside <strong>APLA Health<\/strong>\u2019s food pantry in North Hollywood.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGotta make that quiche, you got have your eggs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kaiser said he comes to the Vance North Necessities of Life Program weekly, the largest food pantry focused on the needs of HIV clients in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe greatest impact for me is that I haven&#8217;t had to buy groceries in years, just only enough to supplement what they give me here,\u201d Kaiser said. \u201cThey are so generous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pantry provides food and other staples to more than a dozen food pantries throughout Los Angeles County.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Necessities of Life Program, it is a food pantry, food distribution program for low-income persons,\u201d said Jeff Bailey, senior director of HIV Access Programs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a lifesaver, right now,\u201d John Carey said.<\/p>\n<p>For nearly 3,000 people living with HIV like John, the pantry keeps them afloat during these tough financial times.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orangecountymoversreport.com\/?p=705\">Mother, daughter struck, killed by car in Stanton<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cGroceries are high, being unemployed,\u201d Carey said. \u201cThere\u2019s two in my household, we\u2019re both unemployed, and it\u2019s a lifesaver.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The program provides clients a range of food and drink options, including this essential.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToilet, I mean, our T.P.,\u201d laughed Ramiro Salazar. \u201cDuring COVID, I\u2019m sure this, yes, there was a scarcity of T.P., but we always had our T.P. for our clients during COVID.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>NOLP is one of the many programs under the umbrella of APLA Health, which provides a range of different services to the LGBTQ+ community.<\/p>\n<p>Salazar said none of the programs would work efficiently without volunteers from the community, including eager helpers from Eyewitness News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re very grateful that a team from ABC7 came to do a day of service in the pantry, they helped us buy groceries, but they also brought with them personal hygiene products to give out to our clients,\u201d Salazar said.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orangecountymoversreport.com\/?p=704\">Police say man barricaded himself inside bank with others in California city of Bakersfield<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ramiro said essentials items mean the world to those struggling to get by.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, it shows the power of people helping people. <!-- -->\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Click here to donate<\/strong> to APLA Health, benefiting the Necessities of Life Program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>APLA Health&#8217;s Vance North Necessities of Life Program in North Hollywood is helping empower people and provide hope, one grocery bag at a time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":708,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[2],"tags":[100,362],"class_list":["post-709","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-los-angeles","tag-feed-socal","tag-society-north-hollywood-feed-socal-lgbtq-lgbtq-lgbtq-pride-food-bank-hiv-nutrition-health-fitness-health-food-charity-gay-gay-rights-lgbt-community-pride-pride-month"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
