TRUKEE, Calif. (KABC) — <\/span>A 36-year-old Lancaster man drowned in Donner Lake in Northern California over the Memorial Day weekend.<\/p>\n

Juan Carlos Garcia-Gutierrez jumped off a pontoon boat to go swimming Sunday afternoon, according to a Facebook post from the Truckee Police Department. Strong winds pushed the boat away before he could get back to it.<\/p>\n

Police said he was not wearing a life jacket.<\/p>\n

Rescuers searched the lake for hours before finding his body more than 100 feet under water using a remote-operated vehicle.<\/p>\n
