{"id":488,"date":"2026-05-24T13:36:43","date_gmt":"2026-05-24T13:36:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/orangecountymoversreport.com\/?p=488"},"modified":"2026-05-24T13:36:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-24T13:36:43","slug":"lapd-releases-bodycam-video-of-deadly-bmw-pursuit-shooting-in-east-la","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/orangecountymoversreport.com\/?p=488","title":{"rendered":"LAPD releases bodycam video of deadly BMW pursuit shooting in East LA"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><span>EAST LOS ANGELES (KABC) &#8212; <\/span>Police have released body camera video showing a deadly officer-involved shooting at the end of a pursuit in East Los Angeles last month.<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orangecountymoversreport.com\/?p=486\">Fiery semitruck crash on 5 Freeway in East LA area closes multiple lanes, snarls traffic<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The incident happened the morning of April 8.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were attempting to stop the driver of BMW that was reported stolen when the pursuit began.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The officers followed the vehicle onto the 5 Freeway while requesting additional units,&#8221; said LAPD in an update posted on its YouTube channel. &#8220;When the BMW began to accelerate away in an apparent attempt to evade, the officers initiated a vehicle pursuit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The driver, who was identified as 30-year-old Jesus Ernesto Jaime, made a U-turn on the Olympic off-ramp of the 5 Freeway and crashed into a police vehicle. Authorities said Jaime then exited the car and began shooting at officers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Responding officers issued verbal commands for Jaime to surrender,&#8221; police said. &#8220;Jaime refused to comply and instead removed a semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and pointed it at an officer, resulting in an <!-- -->[<!-- -->officer-involved shooting<!-- -->]<!-- -->.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/orangecountymoversreport.com\/?p=483\">Customers say packages bound for Mexico are missing after shipping company closed in La Puente<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Police returned fire, killing Jaime at the scene. A passenger in the BMW complied with officers&#8217; commands to surrender and was taken into custody without incident, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Two officers were taken to a hospital where they were treated and released for injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Police said a 9mm semi-automatic Glock handgun, loaded with 17 live rounds, was recovered from the scene. Additionally, a loaded .357 Magnum Astra revolver was recovered from inside the BMW. Both weapons were booked as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>No other injuries were reported.
