BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — <\/span>An allegedly armed man was shot by Los Angeles police after a confrontation in Boyle Heights early Saturday morning, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Officers responded to a call at about 1:45 a.m. of a man assaulting a person with a knife at an apartment complex in the 3000 block of Glenn Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department said.<\/p>\n

When officers arrived, they confronted the man and ordered him to drop the knife, authorities said.<\/p>\n

Police said the man refused, advanced toward officers, and at least one officer opened fire.<\/p>\n

The man continued to refuse to surrender, prompting officers to deploy a foam round, which ultimately subdued him, police said.<\/p>\n

He was taken to a hospital in stable condition. No officers or other individuals were injured during the incident, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

A knife was recovered at the scene.<\/p>\n

Glenn Avenue and Dacotah Street were expected to remain closed for several hours as the investigation continued.<\/p>\n
