LONG BEACH, Calif. (KABC) — <\/span>The city of Long Beach has reported California’s first human case of West Nile virus this summer, according to health officials.<\/p>\n

The city’s Health Department said the patient was hospitalized and is now recovering at home.<\/p>\n

Officials warned that the risk of West Nile virus and other mosquito-borne diseases increases during hot weather, typically from June through October. Symptoms may include fever, body aches, rash, nausea, vomiting and headache.<\/p>\n
