Mail-in voting has already begun, and election officials are encouraging voters to return their ballots before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
In Los Angeles County, more than 100 vote centers are scheduled to open, with hundreds more opening the following weekend. One of those locations is at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in East Los Angeles.
Los Angeles County Registrar Dean Logan encouraged voters to take advantage of early voting opportunities.
“We have 123 vote centers that are opening tomorrow, that are opening this weekend. The next weekend we’ll open another 500 plus vote centers that will be open through Election Day. So the real message right now is to encourage voters to get out there, take advantage of this early voting period and get your ballot in,” Logan said.
Millions of ballots have been mailed to registered voters in Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Election officials in each county say preparations have been underway to ensure voting equipment is secure and operating properly.
“We’ve been preparing all the equipment that is used in those vote centers. Making sure that they work accurately. And that they’re securely transported to those locations and can’t be tampered with,” said Orange County Registrar Bob Page.

Officials also said contingency plans are in place in the event of power outages or internet disruptions.
“We also have depots where we’re, around the county, where we’re able to send backup batteries, backup generator units, in case we have any outages or disruptions,” said Matthew Ceballos, assistant registrar for Riverside County.

Meanwhile, community groups raised concerns earlier in the day about possible voter intimidation and urged registered voters to participate in the election.
“Please vote as soon as you can. We urge everyone to protect your vote by getting informed about your rights as a voter,” said Henry Perez of Inner City Struggle.
Go to your county’s registrar’s website to get the location of where the vote centers are going to be. Election officials and community advocates alike are encouraging voters to cast their ballots early and be informed about the voting process before Election Day.
