Bright fabric squares hang on the walls, all adorned with different drawings and messages of hope. Raven founded Love Quilts in 2017 after she found herself homeless.
“I went through a domestic situation and I became homeless, I literally was on the run with my baby and we’re sleeping in cars, you know.” Relatives, couches, all that kind of stuff,” said Raven.
Lilian knew when she got back on her feet, she wanted to help the unhoused.
“It’s just, you don’t never know. You could be rolling along one minute and then boom, the next minute, you know, you’re out on the street,” said Raven.
With her sewing experience, she set out to make individualized quilts bringing comfort through creativity.

“I wanted them to feel something. Like feel that somebody out there took the time to like put something together for them specifically. Cause it’s like, it’s so hard to be out there and think that nobody cares, that you’re by yourself. And it’s just a horrible, tragic situation,” said Raven.
She recalls meeting one man who deeply treasured his quilt.
“The one of the guys that I met, he took immaculate care of the quilt because he knew that somebody had spent their time on him,” said Raven.
Lilian says moments of creativity offer a mini vacation, and knowing someone in a tough spot is feeling the warmth from her quilts makes creating them even more special.
