SOUTH GATE, Calif. (KABC) — A suspect was taken into custody following a tense standoff at the end of a chase in South Gate Monday morning.

It stemmed from a chase that started when officers responded to a possible domestic violence suspect around 7:15 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The short pursuit ended at what appeared to be an apartment complex on Elizabeth Street.

During the tense standoff, the suspect was seen acting erratically and waving what appeared to be a butcher knife. Police eventually shot him with a less-than-lethal round.
AIR7 was over the scene as the suspect got back in a car and drove it over a spike strip that police set up at the end of the driveway of the property, advancing toward the patrol units.

The suspect surrendered after about 20 minutes and was taken into custody.
