Joshua Reneau, 36, was convicted of multiple felonies, including two counts of murder with special circumstances, four counts of assault, robbery and carjacking, all connected to a deadly crime spree in October 2022.
It was an emotional day in court for the family of Larry Walker, who said the 63-year-old’s life was cut short for no reason.
The family’s grief remains raw four years after the crime. Walker, a husband and father, was killed after being carjacked and run over. Authorities said his body was dragged under the vehicle for several miles as Reneau fled police.
“I could not believe that somebody would take my father from me, from my mom, from my sister, my brother,” Jamien Walker, Walker’s daughter, said during court.

Investigators said Reneau had killed a man in the San Fernando Valley and was fleeing police with an accomplice when he jumped out of a vehicle and carjacked Walker. Walker was then run over, and his body became stuck beneath the car as the pursuit continued. Reneau eventually crashed in Inglewood.
“The man being sentenced today has proven himself to be a stain on society, someone who acted with complete and utter disregard for human life,” said Gaynell Walker, Walker’s wife.
