CORONA, Calif. (KABC) — A black-crowned night heron has been returned to the wild after firefighters rescued the bird from a tree in Corona.

The Corona Fire Department responded Friday night after the large heron became tangled in a fishing line while in a tree.
Firefighters used an extension ladder to reach the bird and cut it free from the line. Crews waited below with a tarp to catch the heron and provide aid after the rescue.

A good Samaritan also helped remove a fish hook from the bird’s mouth.
After being monitored overnight, the black-crowned night heron was released back into the wild.
