SANTA MONICA, Calif. (KABC) — Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metro bus near the Santa Monica Pier Friday.

The person was struck at about 2 p.m. near Main Street and Ocean Park Boulevard, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
No details of the crash were immediately released, but police said a pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metro bus. Video from the scene showed both a Santa Monica Big Blue Bus and a Metro bus stopped at the intersection, with police gathered primarily around the Santa Monica bus. A police command post was established at the location.
Main Street was closed between Ocean Park Boulevard and Hollister Avenue, according to police. Traffic was also impacted on westbound Ocean Park Boulevard approaching Main Street.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes, while the investigation continues.
No other information was immediately available.
