SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Residents of a South Los Angeles neighborhood woke up to find their cars destroyed following an overnight chase that ended in a violent crash.

It all started around 1 a.m. Wednesday when officers began pursuing a car for reckless driving on Imperial Highway near 114th Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Shortly after the chase began, police say the driver crashed into five parked cars.

Video from the scene shows widespread wreckage, with car parts and shattered glass scattered across the street. The top of one vehicle appeared to have been completely sheared off in the collision.
The driver was taken into custody and taken to the hospital with a fractured nose. Nobody else was injured.

It’s unclear if drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.
