SYLMAR, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A person was rescued after a car slammed into the back of a semi-truck in Sylmar on Monday.

The violent crash happened on the northbound 5 Freeway at Roxford Street, just north of the 405 Freeway split.

AIR7 video from above the crash shows the back corner of the semi-truck’s trailer piercing the Audi SUV’s windshield. The vehicle’s airbags deployed in the crash.

The driver was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

According to California Highway Patrol, a witness said the semi-truck was parked on the right shoulder when the SUV slammed into it. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Two right lanes on the northbound 5 Freeway were blocked as crews investigated the crash.
