By admin SOUTH LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A South Los Angeles nonprofit focused on gang intervention is mourning the death of an employee who was fatally shot while on the job. The killing marks the second death of an employee affiliated with the organization in less than two months.

Reginald Foreman, 51, was working with a 2nd Call team on weed abatement near 59th Place and Crenshaw Boulevard in the Hyde Park neighborhood when he was shot, according to police. The shooting occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
Skipp Townsend, executive director of 2nd Call, said the attack appeared to happen without any interaction beforehand.
“There was no conversation. There was no argument, nothing took place,” Townsend said.
Foreman had been working for the nonprofit organization for less than a couple of months. 2nd Call is a gang reduction advocacy group that seeks to provide alternatives to violence in the community.

The killing comes less than two months after another 2nd Call employee was murdered on July 4.
Townsend said he is meeting with employees to discuss the shooting and help them begin coping with the loss while continuing the organization’s work in the community.
“How do we heal and still work,” Townsend said. “What I’m telling my team is to heal today. To use today to start healing. The work is going to come… We’re going to continuously be in the community working, but I think today they have to figure out how do they start the healing process.”
Police have not announced any arrests. The Los Angeles Police Department is continuing to search for the gunman.
