Brush fire spreads toward 5 Freeway in Gorman, fire crews say

GORMAN, Calif. (KABC) — Fire crews are battling a brush fire in Gorman near the Los Angeles County-Kern County line.

The estimated 100-acre Ridge Fire is burning on W. Gorman Post Road, according to the L.A. County Fire Department. It was first reported just after 3 p.m. Friday.

Fire officials say the fire is spreading down the hill and toward the 5 Freeway. Crews were asking California Highway Patrol to shut down the 5 Freeway from SR-138 north to Gorman.
