The incident happened around 11:45 p.m. near Yucca Loma Road and Apple Valley Road.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a 43-year-old man from Hesperia in a Dodge Caravan ran a red light and crashed into a driver in a Volkswagen Tiguan.
The impact caused the Tiguan to crash into another vehicle that was in another lane.
The mother and two young children were passengers in the Tiguan and died at the scene.

Two additional passengers in the Tiguan suffered major injuries and were sent to a local hospital.
The names of the mother and children have not been released by authorities, but according to a verified GoFundMe, the mother was identified only as a “Tedi” and the children were identified as 7-year-old Rosie Valenzuela, and 6-year-old Felix Valenzuela.
The Hesperia man in the Dodger Caravan also sustained major injuries and was also sent to a nearby hospital.
The sheriff’s department said drugs and alcohol may have been a factor in this collision and the investigation remains ongoing.
