LITTLEROCK, Calif. (KABC) — A San Bernardino County sheriff’s detective was hospitalized Wednesday after being shot while conducting an investigation near Palmdale, authorities said.

The incident was reported just after 3 p.m. in the 13000 block of East Avenue R-2 in Littlerock.
San Bernardino County sheriff’s detectives were conducting a criminal investigation when the detective was shot, but officials would not say what the investigation involved or discuss the suspect’s criminal history.

The detective was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition.
The suspect died at the scene.
