TUJUNGA, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — The Crystal View neighborhood of Tujunga is not large, just seven small cul-de-sacs off one main road – about 100 homes. But in the last month, at least seven homes have been broken into, and residents are worried.

“They’re very scared,” said Debbie Kane, the captain of her Neighborhood Watch. Her next door neighbor was victimized two weeks ago in the middle of the afternoon.
“They dressed all in black, hoodies, mask,” Kane told Eyewitness News. “You can’t see them. One stays in the car, three jump the side gate, go in the back, break in, get what they can, and they’re out.”
“I’m very concerned,” John Nunez told Eyewitness News. He lives down the street. “My wife is very concerned and we have to be on guard. My neighbors and I, we need to just be vigilant to what’s going on, and we hope the LAPD, who have increased their patrols, will continue to do so.”

Only one LAPD cruiser is assigned to this neighborhood at a time, and we saw it doing rounds this afternoon. One of the officers told us this kind of criminal activity typically happens in the San Fernando Valley, but for whatever reason, it has arrived in this neighborhood.
Residents are being urged to take precautions to avoid becoming the next victim.
“We have Ring cameras all around our house,” Kane says. “I think everybody needs a security alarm.”
