WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — The roar of loud howls is alarming neighbors in West Hollywood after a large group of coyotes appears to have taken up residence inside an abandoned building.

The coyotes have been spotted inside an abandoned building at the corner of Romaine Street and North Spaulding Avenue.
According to nearby residents, construction of the building came to a halt about three years ago. In recent months, coyotes have made themselves at home on the site, and many residents say they would like to see the city do something about it.
AIR7 flew over the building on Monday afternoon and spotted a coyote trotting around the unfinished multi-unit building.
In a video shared with ABC7, a coyote was seen standing on one of the unfinished balconies.
Some neighbors say they regularly see packs of four or five coyotes roaming around on the property.

“It’s a developer who lost their funding, and it’s been basically an eyesore for the last three years,” said neighbor Paddy Fallon. “We had some homeless people living in there. They kicked them out. And then the coyotes came in, and they let them stay.”
Neighbors say they are having trouble sleeping because almost every night they hear the coyotes howling loudly. A video posted to social media shows just how loud the pack can be.
Still, many neighbors say their real concern is what is being done about the abandoned construction project.
ABC7 reached out to the city of West Hollywood, which said there has been a coyote management and coexistence plan in place for several years.
The city says it emphasizes non-lethal management of the coyotes, but it is also working with several L.A. County agencies to manage the coyotes and make sure everyone is safe.
