LA PUENTE, Calif. (KABC) — A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Thursday afternoon involving a minivan at an intersection in La Puente, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 5:45 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of East Amar Road and North Evanwood Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and was not immediately identified, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol said. Whether the driver of the van was injured was unknown.

Aerial video from AIR7 from showed a black tent of the kind used to shield a body from public view at the site of the wreckage, in the middle of the roadway.

The motorcycle was toppled onto its side in the collision, and was seen near the front left tire of the black sedan in the middle of the intersection.

Significant damage was visible on the left side of the minivan. Whether that damage was caused during the crash was unclear.

The cause of the collision was under investigation.
